The Liebster Award: Discover New Blogs!

WHAT IS THE LIEBSTER AWARD?

For those of you that don’t know (which I didn’t before being nominated), the Liebster Award is given to bloggers (mainly small/new ones) by other bloggers. It basically recognises other blogs and is a great way to lend a helping hand I think. If you accept your nomination then you need to follow the set of rules listed below.

If you choose not to get involved that’s okay, it isn’t necessarily for everyone! The official rules request the submissions be in Dec 25th but I agree with Erica’s sentiment, in that sharing is caring and so many of you guys deserve recognition so I’m doing this anyhow.

THE RULES:

  • Thank the person who nominated you and post a link to their blog.
  • Display an image of the award in your post.
  • Write a 150-300 word post about your favourite blog (one that is not your own) and provide a link to that blog.
  • Answer the questions that were provided to you by your nominator.
  • Nominate 5-11 blogs.
  • Supply questions for your nominees to answer.
  • Share the rules in your post.
  • Contact your nominees; let them know they’ve been nominated for the Liebster Award and provide them with a link to your post.

THANK YOU!

I’d like to thank Maya (https://mayacuthbert.wordpress.com/) for nominating me. She is a great friend of mine and to be honest has done me a massive favour by getting me involved in this as the personal information that I provide on my blog is very minimal!

MY FAVOURITE BLOG:

My favourite blog has to be https://littlefears.co.uk/. Their flash fiction pieces never fail to shock and amuse me. You know that they’re not what they seem yet you still get surprised every time because the twists are so unconventional. Whatsmore, they have their own artwork and have published books on Amazon. How much more inspirational can you get?

THE QUESTIONS:

If you could be any animal what animal would you be and why?

I would be a cat because they get the best of both worlds: freedom to go anywhere they want but also a loving home and food to go back to. Whoop!

If your house was on fire, yet you could save 3 items, what would you save and why?

Not to be a stereotypical gen z but I would save my mobile phone, my laptop and my headphones because they have on them all my writing, my music and my means of communication with the outside world. (I assume that this doesn’t include people because in that case I would save my mum, my dad and my brother!)

Describe your perfect pizza.

My perfect pizza would probably be covered in onions and pineapple without the ham because I’m still bitter that you can only ever get pineapple on pizza if it’s a Hawaiian. Smh.

What is your favourite thing about blogging? Why?

I love being able to create an organised space for my best creative writing pieces. First and foremost, my blog is a kind of journal for my own reference. Having readers is a happy bonus.

If you were given the power, would you go forward in time or backwards?

I would go backwards in time, I think. Part of the excitement of life is not knowing what will happen next so I wouldn’t want to spoil that. Plus, it’d be fun to relive some of my greatest memories through a clearer medium than my mind’s eye.

What one piece of advice would you give to your younger self knowing what you do now?

I would tell my younger self to live in the moment and to appreciate all the people who are currently in her life. In the past, I feel that I took a lot of love for granted and focussed too much on materialistic things. Now I know better.

If you could meet a character from your favourite movie who would you meet?

Uhh, confession time: I don’t watch a lot of movies (unless they’re book adaptations of course), but I think I’d like to meet Ginny from the Harry Potter movies. Except… I’d rather meet book Ginny than movie Ginny because movie Ginny is just so much more badass. I’d probably be flattered that she’d even speak to me, haha.

When you were little, what did you want to be when you were older? Is it the same now?

When I was in primary school, I wanted to be a writer or an art teacher. I’ve since realised that I’m painfully average at art and that I don’t really like kids very much, so that’s the latter ruled out. I still have hopes to become a published writer, but we all know how hopeless that can be. My primary career aspiration is to work in a publishing house, whilst submitting my projects to literary journals on the side.

What are you looking forward to most about this year?

I am most looking forward to continuing with my English and Creative Writing course and growing as a reader and writer. I am also excited about meeting new people and nurturing the friendships that I already have.

THE NOMINEES:

https://salimabensalah.wordpress.com/

I love her book challenges and reviews. If you’re ever stuck with what to read next or are looking to inject an extra bit of fun into your reading journey, Sal’s blog is a great place to start!

https://bricklayerwritings.wordpress.com/

Lucy’s posts are just pure gold. They’re hilarious and relatable and, if you know her in real life, then you’ll know that this is the result of her admirable ability to translate her personality onto the page.

https://pindorela.com/

The poems and other posts on Zlatitsa’s blog are beautifully written, introspective and emotionally-engaging. I get excited whenever she posts something new because I know that it’ll be something thought-provoking and fresh.

https://hannahledliewriting.wordpress.com/

I love love love Hannah’s poetry. The vivid settings and impactful use of structure always leave me in awe. Her spoken word pieces are an experience and delivered in a way that immediately transports you to wherever she is describing. (Check out the Writers’ Bloc YouTube channel if you’re interested!)

I have followed Theo on Instagram for a while and she never fails to fill me with hope and happiness with every post, both on there and on here. If you’re not in the greatest place or if you want to find ways to help you to stay positive, then I strongly recommend her blog. I’m not sure if she realises that I also have a blog so Theo, when you see this, it’s agirlnamedlotty from Instagram!
